What is the Ledger Recovery Key?
The Ledger Recovery Key is a secure NFC-enabled smart card that allows you to store your 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase (SRP) entirely offline — encrypted and protected by a user-defined PIN code. It’s not a cloud backup. There’s no identity verification, and your sensitive data never leaves the card.
With its EAL6+ certified Secure Element chip, the same kind used in passports and bank cards, it offers the highest level of hardware security for long-term crypto protection.

How It Works
Backing up

Set your PIN (4–8 digits) directly on the Ledger Recovery Key.

Tap the card to your Ledger Flex or Ledger Stax via NFC.

The Secret Recovery Phrase is encrypted and stored securely on the card.
Restoring

On a new device, choose “Restore using Ledger Recovery Key” in Ledger Live.

Tap the card and enter your PIN.

The phrase is securely transferred and imported into your new device.
Compatibility
The Ledger Recovery Key is compatible only with Ledger Flex™ and Ledger Stax™ via NFC. It does not work with Nano X or Nano S Plus.
